The customer provides the data for the order

The client sends us a copy of the certificate (registration) or an access code. The client may send a copy as a photo or a PDF. The office can then issue the document and apostillize it. If the client does not have a copy or an access code, the office will need the respective data to issue the document (and then apostillize it).

Our office presents the budget

After analyzing the feasibility of the request, the office presents the quote related to the apostille (fees and taxes). The client makes the transfer to a bank in Portugal or via PayPal. It is also possible to pay via PIX.

Apostille in 2 business days

The office carries out the apostille within 2 business days, starting after the payment has been received in our bank account. The client can receive the apostilled document in PDF format (by email or WhatsApp), as well as receiving the original by mail (to any country).

Sending by mail

After the apostille is issued, the office asks the courier company (DHL) to calculate the shipping cost. Upon receiving the response, the office informs the client. The client makes the corresponding payment. The document is sent after confirmation of this payment.

The AMP Advogado office only apostilles public documents, such as: birth certificate, marriage certificate, death certificate, divorce certificate, criminal record certificate and permanent certificate.

Please note that we are located in Portugal and we only apostille documents issued in Portugal.

The office needs to be sure that the document can, in fact, be apostilled.
Therefore, the client must send a copy of the document to be apostilled or an access code.
A simple copy (photo) via WhatsApp is sufficient.
After analyzing the document, we will inform you of the cost of: office fees + fee charged by the Portuguese government.
The shipping cost (DHL) will only be calculated after the document has been apostilled.

  • - PIX. We are in Portugal. However, we have a specific account to receive payment via PIX. Our term only starts when the amount reaches our bank account. Therefore, choose the fastest payment method.

The document is notarized within 48 business hours, counting from the date the amount is “received” in the office account (during business hours).

Check with your financial provider how long it takes for a bank transfer to be processed. Choose the fastest transfer method.

The customer will receive a tracking code to monitor all the progress of the shipment.

The AMP Advogados office is based in Portugal and does not apostille documents from other countries. The document can only be apostilled in the country that issued it.
Therefore, if the document was issued in Brazil, it must be apostilled in Brazil. If it was issued in Spain, it must be apostilled in Spain, etc. Since we are based in Portugal, we only apostille documents issued in Portugal.

The total cost of apostille includes: office fees + fee charged by the Portuguese government and the cost of sending the document to the client.
Therefore, the apostille service has a variable price, depending on the document and the client's address.

Shipping costs are calculated after the apostille is issued. This calculation takes into account the distance between the sender and the recipient, as well as the weight and delivery date. There may also be variations depending on the time of day the document is sent.

Our office only sends via DHL.

We have a reduced-price contract for shipping. Therefore, the customer will pay a lower price to receive the document.

Fees and fees should not be confused.

A fee is a charge made by the Portuguese government. It is a type of tax (popularly called a tax).

Fees are paid to the law firm/lawyer for the services provided. Therefore, it is the professional's remuneration.

It is not possible to apostille a copy of a document. We need to issue a duplicate and then apostille it. It is also possible to issue a copy with an access code. If you have an access code, please let the office know. In this case, we can print the document and apostille it.

The access code is used to issue documents. With the access code of a record or a criminal record, we can print a copy of the document and have it apostilled.

Divorce-related documents are considered highly confidential. Therefore, the lawyer does not have access to this document without a power of attorney with special powers.

The client will need to send a power of attorney to our office in Portugal so that we can request the issuance of the certificate and then have it apostilled.

No! We do not apostille documents that have already been issued.

To apostille any document, we need to issue it again. For example, we go to the registry office and request the issuance of a birth certificate and then apostille it.

We never apostille documents issued by third parties.

The easiest option is when the client issues his/her criminal record certificate online and sends us a copy. In this case, the office prints the certificate and takes it for apostille. However, if the client is unable to issue it online, the office needs to make a request for in-person issuance at the respective public office. However, to have access to someone's criminal record, the lawyer needs to have a written authorization (original), signed by the client. It is worth noting that the criminal record is information considered highly confidential.
